A jungle fern.

I love these things. I love the way they curl up and have these little fluffy bits sticking out. They look very elegant in their own way, despite being relatively hardy plants. And I can't seem to stop taking pictures of them every time I come across one...

Taken on an outing to a waterfall at the foot of Fraser's Highland some time last year. It was for the Malaysian Nature Society's Photography Group which Eddie is a part of, and so he invited me along. We crossed the river seven times before I took this shot, with waters going up to about 3 feet higher. Just two more feet and I would have been immersed!

Canon EOS 300
with Canon EF 100mm F/2.8 Macro USM
blimey if I can remember the settings! (I really should start taking notes)
Fuji Superia 200
Scanned from negative, adjusted levels, added a bit of contrast and saturation for optimum colour (and to match the print), watermark and border

wow, I really like this, it looks like a tentacle  the colour is beautiful!
the border is a nice touch, maybe I should start putting borders on my pictures :floating:

Really superb image. Looks like a bit of scanning loss going on here. I bet this thing is tack sharp in print. The 100mm macro is my number 1 lens. It doesn't come sharper... well except for the $50 canon 50mm 1.8. Cheapest lens made and sharper than anything out there... A great image. Nice comp... Dave

thats a beautiful shot nadiah! though those tentacles reminds me of bugs, i really do love the way it curls up on the end.
very good composition for this one, and the placement of your watermark doesn't spoil the photo at all! very good focus on the funny looking plant, the greeny background works beautifully too! the border is simple and smart.
